FAQ

Why is Hollywood so famous?

The first film industry was founded in California in 1887 by D.W. Griffith. It was named after Los Angeles, at the time known as Hollywood.

Because it was so exciting to visit, the name stuck. It was a place that people would travel from all walks of the globe to experience.

Hollywood is still a part of our culture today. We have movies and television shows, music videos, commercials and so on. All of them are called "Hollywood."

What's the difference between a manufacturer and a distributor?

A producer creates the movie. The movie is distributed by a distributor. Producors have the option to sell movies directly to distributors or theaters. Distributors acquire movies from producers. Distributors then sell the movies to theaters, cable networks, and streaming services.

Distributors will need to negotiate with theatre owners about the location of their movies. This means that some theaters might charge more money for a certain movie than others. Distributors should be able to distribute your movie to as many theaters as possible.

How much does it cost to distribute a feature film?

A typical distribution deal costs between $100,000-$150,000.

The average cost of a theater is approximately $10,000

Screens cost on average around $5,000

If you have 100 screens, your distribution fee will be about $500,000.

If you have ten screens, your distribution fees would be $50,000.
