Alicia Keys' relationship to her mom

A recent report in the New York Times reveals the strained relationship between Alicia Keys and her mother. The singer was raised in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan by her Italian-American mother, Teresa Augello. Her mother introduced classical music to her as a young child and gave her piano lessons. Although she did not have a close relationship with her father, her mother was an influential influence for her daughter.

Her mom, although she's no longer a pop icon, is still a strong influence in her daughters' lives. She is an active volunteer in charitable causes and was honored as an Amnesty International Ambassador for Conscience. She also founded Keep a Child Alive, an organization that helps children with mental health issues. She spoke out about racial discrimination in 2016 to The Guardian.

Ant Anstead, Christina Haack’s ex and husband, filed for full custody of their son

Ant Anstead has filed for full parental rights to their 2-year-old son Hudson London Anstead. Anstead claims Haack made Hudson unsafe and put his safety at risk. In court documents, Ant Anstead claimed that Haack was putting Hudson at risk of harm and harassing his nanny and publicist.

Anstead divorced Haack in June. Anstead claimed that Hudson was his primary child and that Haack spent only nine days with Hudson per month over the past 20 months. Anstead raised concerns about Haack’s parenting by claiming that Hudson had been sunburned as a child and was suffering from COVID-19. Haack filed a reply to Anstead's filing, claiming that the allegations were untrue.

Marlon Wayans defends Dave Chappelle

Marlonwayans defends Dave Chappelle after a Netflix special caused some controversy. His jokes about transgender women made him an Emmy-winning comedian. It's not surprising that his special received much criticism from both critics and fans. E! interviewed Wayans. Wayans talked about his feelings about the situation in an interview with E!

Netflix's new standup special "The Closer", has drawn protests from transgender individuals after Wayans made remarks about them. Wayans later defended Wayans and stated that Chappelle was defending J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter" author, who has publicly attacked transgender people saying they threaten gender identity. Although Wayans may have a point regarding transgender people, he is not right.

FAQ

Why aren't more independent films distributed?

Most indie filmmakers assume that their films will get picked up by distributors.

Because they love the work, distributors will likely buy their films.

But, it is very rare that this happens. Independent filmmakers are often used by distributors.

They might delay a film’s release date until after the awards show has finished.

They delay the release of a low-budget movie until after the summer blockbuster seasons has started.

Distributors also try to keep films away from audiences until they've already spent hundreds of dollars on tickets, popcorn, or candy.

They don't want these profits to be lost.

What is the difference in a distributor and a producer?

The movie is made by a producer. The movie is distributed through a distributor. Producers can sell their movies directly to theaters, distributors, or other companies like Netflix. Distributors acquire movies from producers. They then sell them on to theaters or cable channels, as well as streaming services.

Distributors have to negotiate with theater owners over where their movies should play. This means that some theaters might charge more money for a certain movie than others. If you want your movie to be seen by as many people as possible, you should choose a distributor with many theaters.

How many theaters am I required to make my investment return?

It all depends on how long your theatrical release will be running.

If your film is going to be run for less then two weeks, one theater will suffice.

Two theaters are required if your film will be shown for more than two weeks.

Why don't more filmmakers use crowdfunding websites like Indiegogo or Kickstarter?

Crowdfunding websites are great because you can reach potential investors directly.

Filmmakers don't feel qualified to ask for funds. They believe they need another person to verify their claims.

They don't believe anyone should invest in them, as they have not proven their worth yet.

Instead, they spend months working hard on their project in the hope that someone will notice.

They realize that they did not prepare well when they launch their campaign.

So instead of getting thousands of dollars, they end up with just a handful of donations.
